1 Chronicles 4:9-10 New King James Version
9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,
“Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!”
So God granted him what he requested.

"The Prayer of Jabez"
The first nine chapters of 1st Chronicles are mainly a genealogy and historical account of Judah.
But when you get to chapter four, in this unexciting list of names we find a golden nugget.
1st Chronicles 4:9, "Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
How about carrying that name around with you? Pain and grief
But then Jabez had an idea. Despite what my name means, despite what the circumstances in my life are I'm going to seek to do something about it.
I'm going to turn my pain into gain.
He’s praying for the hand of God to “Touch Me”.
Jabez is asking for God’s hand to do the work – not his own.
Jabez is relying on the all-powerful hand of God for the fulfillment of the “enlarging of his borders”;
Jabez was depending on God’s strength – rather than on his own. He wants his enlargement to be accomplished through God’s empowerment.
Be like Jabez in 1st Chronicles 4:10, and cry out to God,
“Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And watch the of God granted your request."
So, be confident in God's ability to bless you, and calls upon Him to do something supernatural in your life.
