1 Thessalonians 2:9-12 New King James Version
9 For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil; for laboring night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.
10 You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;
11 as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,
12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
SERMON NOTES: The Courtship of Fathers
The courtship of fathers is so important. In that, the fatherhood of God comes to us as one of the tenderest truths of scripture.
God is portrayed by Jesus as the kindest of fathers, always available, accepting us even when we have failed Him, and giving us good gifts because He loves us.
The courtship of fathers should have 3 traits that should be visible to their children and to God.
First: Righteous meaning morally correct. As fathers we should have high moral standards which = a high calling from God.
Second: We should be Blameless. Not free from sin but sets example, works hard, and demonstrate love.
And third: Holy the hardest of the 3. Important for fathers which urges us to a Godly life before our children.
Happy Father’s Day!
